Creative Ideas For The Working Parent

Do you want to know some great ideas for how to be a better parent, when you spend so much time at work? No matter what you might think, the most important thing to your children in the long run is the time you spend with them, as opposed to how much money a toy cost. And if there thinking is the latter, then you've got some work to do! Here are some great creative ideas for honing your parenting skills through keeping in touch with your children and balancing work.

Make Working Away From Home Easier
When you are away, ask your child to be your personal secretary. Provide them with a note pad and ask them to take down your messages for you, make sure they organize the messages too. While away on work, you can record good night messages on recorders that will leave them with a sweet message and your voice to listen to. You can get a web cam for you and your spouse and children. Use programs such as Messenger or Skype when away on business trips, so they can see you, and hear your voice. You can also record messages such as prayers, on your computer, save the file, and import it into your music player, and send the file via email.

Let Your Children Get Involved
One thing that will work great is encouraging your children to leave you messages. It is a great way for them to feel connected to you, and it is also a great stress reliever to hear little one's voices. Have the person that is caring for them give them a checklist for what to say. Have them create a journal of things they would like to do with you, such as going to that new park, or riding the carousel at a mall. You can also let your children look up places you will be visiting on the Internet. Make sure an adult is there with them. You can have them fax a homework assignment to you, you correct it and send it back.

Really enjoy these activities. If you read books and put effort into it you can find some great ideas that will make you feel connected to your children when you away. Your children will love that they know you are thinking about them.
